A couple of things:
1. I work with several people who are interested and are reading comic books... sorry, I mean graphic novels. Anyway, they've just finished reading Joss Whedon's run on Astonishing X-Men. I, along with many others in superhero loving community, thought Whedon's take on the X-Men was pretty good, second only in recent years to Grant Morrison's New X-Men. There were a couple of "reveals" that were more exciting, and had more emotional resonance, for die-hard fans than the casual reader. I'm not spoiling anything (you have to state that when talking about comic books) but if you didn't care (empathic?) about the characters, know at least some of their back story, then several scenes were probably a little odd. I guess this is why long running series can be difficult to get into. I guess it's kind of like LOST (a show I watched religiously for a while, then missed several episodes and now can't follow what's going on). It was a little upsetting that people don't love things the way I love things.
2. Life is a little bit of a journey. I try to keep growing but I'm not always successful. See above. I'm really trying to get involved but some days it just doesn't work.
3. In the age of Twitter, I'm still trying to find new blogs to read. Since I don't have the hours and hours of time I did previously, I've been relying on links, comments pages, and random awards to give me some insight into other people's lives. So far nothing has stuck out.
