I'm currently sitting in a reasonably price motel room in the heart of Ontario's cottage country (Huntsville) because I'm manning the table at a conference for drama and dance educators. I'll probably live blog about it tomorrow. Anyway, as was driving up I had the idea of writing a post about three songs picked randomly by my iPod and my thoughts on them. These might be songs I know very well or it could be a track I didn't know I had. Should be interesting. So here it goes...
[I had to link to YouTube versions of these songs since I'm not on my laptop but the store's computer. No music. There's also no sound on this computer so I don't know what the quality of the audio is. Hopefully it's okay]
By Demons Be Driven by Pantera
Never been much of a Pantera fan. Guy I work with likes them a lot. Like their guitar sound. Don't like the vocalist. Not much of a melody. It's got that machine gun guitar/drum playing on this track. “Beckon the Call”... isn't that from somewhere, like a movie or something? Hmm... Double drum pedals.
Download this album about three weeks ago. Listen to some of it at work in the basement but I've never been much of a metal fan.
25 Minutes to Go by Johnny Cash
Live from Folsom Prison. Like the countdown narrative of the song. Class country sound. Inmates cheering when the narrator spits in the officer's face. “This ain't the movies so forget about me.”
Wish I had more to say but it's just good. Don't know the song all that well as some of his other stuff. Glad I own this record.
Through My Sail by Neil Young
acoustic song with three part harmony. Don't know if they're all him or there's other people singing. This is a track I got off Zach a while back. Never really gave much to thought of Young's catalog beyond the hits. It's a nice, quiet song. A little short.
