It's so easy to be distracted.
As previously stated, I had every intention of writing a series of longer blog posts about "stuff". Unfortunately, due to my ability to be distracted by almost anything I haven't maintained this resolution. And I don't know how to rectify the situation. In fact, I believe I have only made this more difficult for myself by purchasing a video game console. So I can now add that to the list that already includes work, television, the daily grind, and the Internet.
At work there's an entire shelving unit dedicated to helping would-be writers find a way to be productive. Writing, most of these books say, is very difficult. Aside from distraction, you have to also find topics to write about, worry about grammar and sentence construction, and style. That last one is difficult. You need to capture the reader's attention. You need a voice. Essentially you need a purpose.
Today's purpose is to answer a particular question I thought of yesterday. It's a logic question based on some vague facts I've heard over the years. First, every generation, on average, is taller than the previous generation. Second, the largest age group are the Baby Boomers who are currently entering into their retirement (65+). Third, the population isn't replacing itself (at least in the Western world). Fourth, as you age you shrink. So here's the question on my mind; is the average height going to temporarily go down then shoot back up? There's probably a report out there somewhere but it's a question that occupied my mind yesterday at work.

related to the topic at hand, but not your question exactly:
