I've spent the last two nights scraping gum off the bottom of desks. I will not let students put their gum under the desk when I'm a teacher because it's horrible. HORRIBLE.
when I was in elementary school (a catholic one, at that), we had to scrape all the gum off the desks for detention (even if detention was given for something other than chewing gum). for the record, I NEVER stuck my chewing gum under a desk.
