i built my dreams around you

According to poll done in the UK last year, Fairytale in New York by The Pogues is the best pop Christmas song. The second and third place songs were Band Aid and Band Aid 20 versions of Do they know it's Christmas? What happened, basically, is the vote was split between the two versions, thus allowing The Pogues to win. I enjoy the fact that a song with the lyric, "Happy Chirstmas you arse, I pray to God it's our last," is considered by some to be the best Christmas song. That's what the holidays are all about for me...

Anyway, here's the song for anyone who doesn't already have an MP3 of it somewhere on their hard drive. It's essential.

Fairytale of New York - The Pogues

An aside: I think the song was also an inspiration for Preacher #54 by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.
