I saved by rock n' roll

While in the midst of writing my applications to teacher's college to get that all important Bachelor of Education (the document that would allow me to be a professional teacher almost anywhere in the world), I find myself being very selective in my music. Inspiration was the key, and now that I'm done [at 2:46am in the morning] I have time to reflect upon my choices. First, I went all vinyl. It was the Luddite in me because I was forced to spend hours in front of a computer YET I couldn't fax or electronically submit my application, which I downloaded off the web. No, it had to be mailed. I guess something has to keep Canada Post in business. Anyway, back to the music. Here's what I got chosen:

Marvin Gaye - Let's Get It On
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Deja Vu
The Beatles - Rubber Soul
Bruce Springsteen - The River
Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska
Sleater-Kinney - Dig Me Out
The Selecter - Too Much Pressure
Jimmy Cliff - The Harder They Come

I enjoy everything I listened to, but some of the selections weren't very helpful. For example, I sang along with most of Rubber Soul, paying closer attention to the lyrics than to what I was typing. Let's just say that I had to rewrite that section (somehow I don't think my insights into why George Harrison was best songwriter will help me. He is, by the way. He may not have put out as much as Paul & John, but his stuff was gold). The double dose of the Boss was to help connect with my inner "discriminated child." Nothing says alienation like Nebraska.
