today I went to see The Mummy Returns for 3 dollars at the local multiplex. Yes, I know it's a bad movie, but that's the whole point. This isn't supposed to be rocket science or anything like that. It's simply a good time; a chance for everyone in theater to forget about everything except the movie. For this, it does fairly well. Yes, there are plot holes the size of cannon balls, but that doesn't really matter. It's a summer blockbuster. A blockbuster is nothing more than a lot of flashing light and cool effects. Anything else, and most people won't get it, therefore bring down the sales. And since this movie had the second largest grosing opening ever, you can figure that there wasn't a large budget for the script while more than enough money went to the special effects department. But hey, that's the way the world works. I'm just waiting for Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back on August 24th... everything up to (and after) is just a build up to that movie. see ya
