first l.p., first track

One of the news groups I belong to started a tread last week about what's the best first album, first track? An obvious variation on the classic question from High Fidelity, I plunged right into my record collection to enter the fray. But I didn't start with my shelves and shelves of Compact Discs and Vinyl Records. Nope, I started digitally on my computer, searching through folders. I didn't even use iTunes (which I usually do).

All the tracks I could think of were from at least a decade ago. Things like:

Weezer - My Name is Jonas (Blue Album)
Operation Ivy - Knowledge (Energy)
Tom Waits - Ol'55 (Closing Time)
Roxy Music - Re-Make, Re-Model (Roxy Music)
The Streets - Turn the Page (Original Pirate Material)
Rural Alberta Advantage - The Ballad of RAA (Hometowns)

Now, technically Ryan Adam's Heartbreaker's first track is A Conversation with David Rawlings Concerning Morrissey but the first song is To Be Young (Is to Be Sad, Is to Be High). Talking is fun and does wonders for the skin but it isn't music.
