I really liked this movie but context plays a huge role. I was talking a post-modern/post-structuralist course in university when this movie came out. Self-references and meta-narratives were new things to me so a smart comedy that featured both of those things in a very obvious way was exciting to me. These days I just enjoy it for the tongue-in-cheek aspect (which is basically the same thing as what I mentioned earlier but without all the academic baggage).
That was also the final year that a local multiplex had a two dollar student price for the weekday matinees. It was a good time.
