Survival Never Goes Out of Style

It's midway through December and I'm about to write my usual "best of" list. This year I'm at a loss. I can't think of anything. Not having a lot of money, I haven't been buying records and I can't distinguish between good and bad movies anymore. I mean, I think the only movie I truly enjoyed this year was The Bourne Ultimatum. Hot Fuzz was also really good, and most recently Juno (it was that good). What else came out this year that was any good??? I just don't know.

As far as best record goes... well I think old favourites came through this year. Wilco, Ryan Adams, The Weakerthans, and the New Pornographers all put out decent albums this year. I discovered some new music but I found that these records were just what I needed. It's making me think that I'm reaching a certain point in my musical life where now I'm only going to really enjoy records of bands I liked when I was in university. Oh, there was also the Sadies but I already knew that I'd probably like that record 'cause I've liked almost every other record they've put out.

I guess that I'll wait for some major publications to tell what to like.

With all the damn jobs I've had this year I could do the best job I had this year... Here's the list so far:
1. student teacher (didn't get paid but it was totally a job)
2. Driver
3. Revisionist Assistant on Election Day
4. Audio/Visual technician
5. English Tutor
6. Cashier at Box Store
If I include 2006, I can also add to the list
7. Caretaker
8. Produce Clerk

EDIT [12:16AM]: I have just got through Pitchfork's top 100 singles of 2007 and I realize that while there were good records by new and interesting artist, none of them spoke to me. That being said, that LCD Soundsystem song is pretty awesome. So awesome, in fact, that I downloaded it THREE times 'cause I kept forgetting I had (once when as an individual track, again as part of the album, and then again right now 'cause I forgot I had done the first two things).
