1974

Last week I bought the new Ryan Adams' EP, Following the Lights, because I couldn't find it online. It's okay but, more importantly, I've gone back and started listening to all of Adams' records again. I must be one of the few people who actually enjoy all the different types of records he's put out over the years. I will admit that some of them are better than others but there's something on each record that I enjoy. Heartbreaker still reigns supreme. While I was working at camp I met someone who really like alt-country who had never heard Heartbreaker. I was shocked to say the least. It is easily one of my favourite records. It truly lives up to its title.

However, what has really gotten me thinking is this song, Ray Peterson - Tell Laura I Love Her [MP3]. No one really writes songs like this anymore. I mean, people write songs about dying but it's usually about some else dying or killing someone.

Honestly, I only found it 'cause it was mentioned in High Fidelity.
