If you're Canadian you know this song. It's almost a national anthem. Personally, I just freaking love Stompin' Tom. He's a great Canadian performer and songwriter. And he's written the song that encapsulates the spirit of the game for many many young people.
Stompin' Tom Connors - The Hockey Song
HOWEVER, Canadians also enjoy another winter sport. That sport is curling. I've been trying to find an article that the singer of this song, John K. Sampson, wrote about how wonderful this sport is. My favourite part was when he stated that curling is the most democratic sport and I agree. It is also graceful. It's not a sport like car racing is sport but a sport like golf is a sport. This is a lovely song about this great sport (and of course about relationships). Overall I don't like the new Weakerthans' record as much as I've loved their previous records. They're trying to do too much and I don't know if they're up to it. I've posted previously a live version of the last song on the record and that's how I love them.
