Hearing Fall Out Boy being played by the Michigan pit band was probably the lowlight of my night

Last night I went to a college basketball game. I have never been to a college sporting event. They weren't a really big thing at my university. I have to say that, from what I've observed, sports is a HUGE deal in the States. I know this is an obvious statement, but it wasn't clear to me how big a deal it was until I actually went. If you're not informed about culture of sport goer then you're totally lost. It's just going to a foreign country where everyone speaks a similar language to your own but it's not the exact same. Maybe this is how people feel when they go to rock n' roll shows.

I feel a little bad 'cause my friend, who really likes college basketball, missed the last minute or so of the game 'cause he was explain NCAA tournament rules. Oh well... Michigan won and there was a white guy named Jamal playing for the visiting team. I was told not to cheer for the visiting team.

And no beer sold at the game!? Note to the US: Lower your drinking age.

So crazy. I'm not sure if we even have uni football/basketball teams. I'm sure we do, but I doubt anybody goes to watch them.

I'm still trying to get my head around the idea of the high school football team and cheerleaders. What the hell? Cheerleaders? what's the deal with that?

I'm still pretty sure cheerleaders were invented by TV show creators. Right?
