Where soul meets body

I love the university libraries. I love wandering around them looking for my books. I enjoy never being able to find the books I want that are supposed to be checked in but are in fact nowhere to be found. The rumour I've heard is that Robarts library, the main library at University of Toronto, was the basis form mysterious library in Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose (I didn't, however, like the untranslated passages of Latin, German, and Italian). It's been a while since I was in there doing research, I forgot how much I missed it. Damn. I'm just a random scholar.

Please don't gossip. It doesn't help anyone.

i like the secret rooms in the basement. the special collections where a little british man makes you fill out a form before he retrieves the book for you. and you sit in the hallowed hall and turn pages carefully because they might dissolve.

and the maps room where you can touch every place on earth with your fingertip. where books are not just books but tomes and maybe globes too.
