I've got a lot of time on my hands, so I've been reading over some of older comics that I recently acquired. Most of them are from the early eighties. Lots of them are smaller titles (Mister X, Nexus, Marvel's New Universe project, etc.) along with some of the bigger ones (X-Men, Fantastic Four, Avengers, etc.). Anyway, what caught my eye was this advertisement for a comic guide that stated it had information on "Frank Miller's BATMAN series." Of course, it's referring to the now classic Dark Knight Returns. I guess this is silly of me, but I just assumed that DKR came out with little fanfare, but I guess it would be a big deal if the man who "single handly" saved Daredevil remade Batman. I wonder if the writer of the ad had any idea just how big Miller's version of Batman would be. Afterall, it influenced every incarnation of the Dark Knight that came afterward. The ad just made me realize how old these comic books are, but they're new to me because I've never read them. To be honest, I hadn't heard of most of them before I sat down to read them. This just proves that new is relative (or maybe not. I don't there's any logic to this post at all).
