It seems that every music publication worth its salt has been talking about the Discord Records and Nike feud. It seems that someone at Nike's adverstizing firm thought it would be a good idea to rip off the cover from Minor Threat's classic self-titled ablum for their new stakeboarding ads, only changing the lettering from Minor Threat to Major Threat, without the premission of the Discord Records or the band (remembering that Ian Mckaye owns Discord and was the frontman for Minor Threat). A stunt to to add some cred to Nike's Stakeboarding line as backfired because they just look like jackasses. Who in their right mind would believe that Discord Records would be in league with an "evil" multinational corporation? This is the same guys would have kept their ticket prices around ten dollars for over twenty years. Youth culture is a tricky thing, but you would think that adverstising firms would be better at subverting rebellion. Just look at the state of punk rock today.
