Okay, so what are the most important flims to know in order to understand most pop culture references. I'm not talking about good movies, or class movies. I'm talking about movies that just have a following of pop culture references.

Here's two examples: Stars Wars (and I mean all three movies combined together) and the Godfather. Both of these are fine films, and have stood the test of time. Also, their pop culture reference value has got gone down in the slightest. Even today, you can't turn around without seeing one of these films used in some way as a sartire ("Make him an offer he can't refuse" and "Luke, I am your father" are classics). So, what else should make the list? Casablanca is certainly up there. Almost every other line in that movie is used somewhere. The Wizard of Oz also makes my list. Why? Because again it's all over our culture. Sure, there are movies that come "cult" figures for a while, like Forest Gump, Wayne's World, and The Six Sense, but these movies are classics. That's why they're got to be a little bit older. Ten years isn't enough time to figure something like this out. It takes longer than that. Psycho would make the list too. And so would Citizen Kane... actually, I might have to rethink that one. I think if you talk to most people they wouldn't what "Rosebud" means. I don't think that works because not everyone has seen that. 2001is another example because everytime someone hears the theme music, they think of 2001. Rocky also works. One of the worst thing a parent can is name their kid "Adrien."

Some of the ones I'm not too sure about is something like Pulp Fiction. It's a good movie and has great lines/scenes, but who remembers. That movie will most likely be remember as the movie that brought a certain star back to the limelight in just enough time for him to make Battlefield:Earth. I would love to put one of Kevin Smith's movies up there, but there just isn't known well enough. Now, Jay and Silent Bob's MTV commericals made them that much more popular, but not enough. Oh well... I'm still thinking about it. I'll come up with some more later. See ya
