What should I rant about today? I don't know... Some friends and I discussed which was better, Spin or Rolling Stone, and came to the conclusion that both were pretty bad. Rolling Stone is trying too hard to sell to the suburban kids and Spin is just the "cooler" version of Rolling Stone, but in reality there's nothing different about either of them. The only thing there's really good for is reading specific articles, and even then they write them poorly (and with strange details included).
Then there's Vice. That's just shocking for the sake of being shocking. There's nothing really special about Vice. The writings bad and there's nothing worth reading it (unless you want to find out about shit that you already knew).
If you're in the toronto area, there's two really good free, local entertainment weekly, eyeand now. The difference between the two of them is who owns them. Eye is owned by the same people who own the toronto star, one of Canada's oldest newspaper, while Now is owned by independant businessmen. The difference in out the magazines are setup is incredible. Decent movie reviews in eye (meaning I usually agree with their rating).
I guess the internet is a good as place as any to learn about music. Places like Wall of Sound (even if it's apart of the go network, which is owned and run by Disney) and the Ultimate Band List are good places to start. There are many other places, but these are general enough to give you links to everywhere. If you really want to know about you particular band, try a search engine and look'em there. Now, the question I've got to ask myself is the only people who would ever find this place would be people who spend enough time on the net to know about all these places. I guess I've gotten in over my head... now I'm going to be hated... wait, no one ever reads this, so I guess I'm okay until someone finally discovers this site. See ya
